Class Time Reflection (Language Learner Characteristics/Sep.29/Week6)

It was so helpful to learn and discuss about the principles of language learning and teaching in details. I believe that teachers are able to teach as much as they know. So discovering basic principles about cognitive, socio affective and linguistic aspect of second language learning added valuable contribution to our current knowledge. In addition, I am fond of discussing new information so that instead of being exposed to it we can eliminate, analyze and internalize it. I personally appreciated the discussion about the principles. For sure, I am going to consider these principles in my teaching process.

I have to agree with your enjoyment of the discussion. I find that I internalize the information better when we do this.

You are so right: We teach what we know, and I would say further that we teach the way we're taught, so that we often have to be deliberate about putting into practice the principles of pedagogy that we read about.

I think a GOOD teacher is able to teach as much as he/she knows, and then some. A good teacher can lead students to learn, no matter what the subject or topic. I think learning how to learn is just as important as the learning in and of itself. I hope that made sense.
