Although I completed the reading assignments for the week, my mind was flu and overloaded with all the acquisitions process and early language learning theories before I came to class. The presentation and game was helpful to make the image clearer.
Furthermore the group work activity about demonstrating each method as a poster makes my mind bright about the eight important theories.
I and my partner (Mai) we were responsible to demonstrate Vygotsky’s ZONE OF PROXIMAL DEVELOPMENT (ZPD) method. We had fun while preparing the creative! poster and I myself find this theory very useful. According to this theory language develops primarily from a social interaction and Vygotsky argued that in a supportive interactive environment, children are able to advance to a higher level of knowledge and performance. I have two lovely nieces who are just two years old all family members try to encourage them to speak whenever they make an utterance it repeated lots of times by other family members and I think this is very helpful in the sense of language learning process. As an ESL teacher I am going to keep in mind this and appreciate my pupils any kinds of product in language field.

I totally agree that the more supportive the environment, the better the outcome. It is very important to assure the students that we want to know what they think, that it is absolutely normal that they might make mistakes, and, finally, that you do not learn speaking by being silent. One of my friends was teaching a very silent class of college students (and she is one of the most fun and engaging teachers I've seen), so after several weeks spent in the attempts to get the students talking, she started calling them My Fish-class.
I also agree about the supportive environment. Repeating the things children say is such a natural part of what we do as humans. I think it does encourage them to speak more. You mentioned wanting to create the same feeling in your classroom. Super! The question is, how can this be done? It can't be done in exactly the same way because the learners are older.
Just my random musings.
Oh, Fish-bowl class? As in they stare out like fish? My brain is not working metaphorically.
